- rewrite a scene from a different character's pov; it can give you insight into their thoughts, and also help develop the reaction of others besides the main character, or possibly lead to another scene you hadn't considered before. - shake things up; throw in a disaster (either in the current scene or one from earlier) and see how the characters deal with it. - ask yourself if you've answered the overarching question at the heart of the story; if not, work on answering it (through the characters or action); if so, add another, smaller story somewhere within the main one, preferably in a spot where there's little or no action happening => this can keep the reader 'turning the page'.
