lol... Don't worry. The forty hours isn't typical. It was the magnesium they gave me to prevent me from having a seizure due to ecclampsia that made the process so long and drawn out. It wasn't forty hours of huge amounts of pain, more like contractions that just didn't get strong enough to make any changes.
