Smoochfest Recs 1 art, 2 fics, all are epic!
I can't believe Smoochfest is over for another year. How that month flew by. I still have about a weeks worth of fics to catch up on reading from it, as well as the huge monster 115k fic. I'm saving that one for a quiet day where I can curl up and relax with a bar of chocolate.

Why I loved it: Excellent and faced paced plot! Loved Draco as a Scholar and how that is defined in this fic. Pansy's cameo is brilliant too. The bond between Harry and Draco and their reaction to it gave me the giggles. Give it a read! It's worth it!

Why I loved it: This art is stunning! The comic strip style tells the story in perfect illustrations. You'll feel the love, the hesitance, the truth through the beautiful colors and fine details. I adore everything about this piece. The backgrounds are superb and the style is just brilliant. Go look and leave a lot of love for the artist.

Summary: When Harry is forced to form a Blood Bond with Draco Malfoy against his will under threat of death, he thinks his future will consist of a cold home and sexual frustration. But when a group of left-over Death Eaters decides to stir trouble, their lives change completely – and it takes them both some years to figure out whether it’s for better or for worse.
Word Count: 82,000
Why I loved it: Oh this fic!!! It inspired all the feels in me. It's definitely not a light read, but don't let the scary list of possible triggers frighten you off if you don't have triggers. If you do, best to avoid, most likely, but this fic is REAL. By that. I mean it's a beautifully crafted love story brought about by necessity at first, and then through the years, developing into something so pure and rock solid, despite all the OBSTACLES and there are those. The fic spans about 25 years, from Harry and Draco's mid-twenties to their mid-fifties. It will seem hard to continue to read because your heart aches at the trials they have to endure, but ultimately, the author explores the stark realities of what it is like to live as a disabled adult, what it is like to be present in mind when you can't make yourself heard in body, and how very much a PERSON a person is even when they have a disability. Like a spot in the story where people on the outside, hell, even those close to them, speak up of how uncomfortable they are around this disability, it will challenge you as a reader to learn to find the comfort to deal with it, and to come to the realisation that a real life relationship with family and friends, that emotion and need, frustration, and even obliviousness happens to all of us. It makes us human and it also teaches us life lessons if we are willing to learn. Seriously. If I haven't scared you off, and I sincerely hope I haven't, I encourage you to give this fic a shot. It takes balls to pull off tackling a subject like this one, and as a former caregiver of people who did live trapped in their bodies, I think it's brilliant that a character with such a disability could be given a starring role in a story. Kudos from me to the mystery author.
