Fic Recs and one Art!
All the recs to share!!!
It seems my tastes this week have run a bit dark. I do hope you enjoy these wonderful fandom offerings as much as I did.
1. In the Stream
Title: In the Stream
Author:
musamihi
Pairing:Harry/Draco
Rating: R
Summary: Draco takes up as a Seer after the war, and Harry comes looking for advice, with more or less disastrous results.
Word Count: 11,900
Why I loved it: Draco as a Seer is pure genius. I love how this fic unfolds. How the author explores the paradoxes and what-ifs about Divination. It's lovely and perfect.
2. The Seer's Flat
Title: The Seer's Flat
Author:
vaysh11
Pairing:Harry/Draco
Rating: R
Summary: remixed from
musamihi's In the Stream as recced above.
Word Count: ~3300
Why I loved it: It is a lovely take off from the last fic. I enjoyed how Harry began to question some of the same paradoxes that troubled Draco about the use of his gift in the original. The continuation holds true to the original and blends well with the plot.
3. Painted Doll
Title: Painted Doll
Author:
calrissian18
Rating: NC-17
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco
Summary: Voldemort won, Harry is a prisoner and Draco is Voldemort's puppet.
Warnings: Character Death (not Harry or Draco), Torture, Dark!fic
Word Count: ~1400
Why I loved it: This fic was heart wrenching to read, but so raw and real and horrifying, I couldn't stop until it was over. My heart ached for the situation the characters find themselves in and in the end, the hopelessness, the despair, and the forgiveness and understanding ring in my ears. It's brilliant.
4. The Doll and the Puppet
Title: The Doll and the Puppet
Author:
marianna_merlo
Rating: NC-17
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco
Summary: written for the
hd_remix and based off of
calrissian18's fic: Painted Doll, recced above.
Warnings: Character Death (not Harry or Draco), Torture, Dark!fic
Word Count: 2600
Why I loved it: This fic is a perfect remix of my last recommendation. It offers an alternate ending, adding hope where there was none, but not changing the dramatic tone of the original. Perfectly remixed!
5. Dizzy
Title: Dizzy
Author:
incandescent
Rating: PG-13
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco
Summary: Forced to make an impossible choice, Auror Harry Potter meets the challenge the only way he knows how.
Warnings: Forced Bonding
Word Count: ~1300
Why I loved it: This fic takes you on a tour of the dark side of the Ministry. It's dark and gripping and yet Harry and Draco are so spot on in their characterisations you can't help but feel with them as they are forced to bend to the Ministry's will... but Harry has never been very good at bending to another's will entirely.
6. But to Burn is to Incinerate
Title: But to Burn is to Incinerate
Artist:
mijeli
Rating: PG-13
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco
Summary: remixed from
incandescent's fic Dizzy
Warnings: Dark Imagery
Why I loved it: The art is stirring! It holds a power in its lines and perfectly tells the story it is based off through imagery. I love the colors and the use of dark/light to illustrate a very shady circumstance.
